The Puddle

On our way to the school this morning for centers Eli noticed a lovely puddle on the side of the road. He exclaimed, "A puddle for me to jump in!". I reminded him that we don't jump in puddles on the road. However, ever resourceful,  he realized this puddle was in the bus loop and there were no cars driving on the bus loop. Hooray! A puddle to jump in!

Family Home Evening

We were invited over to a family from our wards home tonight for dinner and family home evening. This family has five children but only two home now, with one son about to leave on his mission. They were so good to our young kids, pulling out the toys and not minding one bit when Eli sat for only a minute and a half at dinner. One of the first things we saw when we walked in was a beautiful bass. I teased Emma and asked if it was the biggest violin she's ever seen. I'm pretty sure they thought I didn't know what it was. Oh well. Anyway, while we were eating dessert, Eli thought it would be a good time for him to try his hand at the bass. Not such a good idea! But the big boys were willing to perform for us. The kids got to put their hands on the bass and feel the vibrations. They were enthralled. Which I loved because I really do love stringed instruments. They are so beautiful. I didn't want to look too silly so only snapped one picture and took one video. But once the boys got serious, there was some beautiful music played. Maybe one of my kids will have a desire to play?

Hot Lunch

Eli and I went to school today to help in Kaylee's class for a little bit and then we stayed for lunch. Kaylee was having hot lunch today, something she loves even though, in my opinion, the food is substandard. I think her favorite part is being able to walk through the line carrying the tray. A close second is that she gets a chocolate milk. Today, feeling a pang in my heart that my baby was getting so big, I asked if I could open her milk for her. She smiled and said her friend Madyson had taught her how. She showed me the side of the carton with the nutritional information, which was the correct side to open it, and preceded to teach me how to open the milk. She was beaming. Even with the pig tails, she looks so grown up. She's got two adult teeth on the bottom of her mouth, she gets herself dressed and ready for school each morning. She has friends that she sits and talks with. She loves doing her homework and reading me her books. She is getting so big. As one of the lunch aids said today to a rowdy room full of kindergarteners, "you guys are almost first graders!" I can't believe it! She will be six in 32 days. Ouch.

Eli's Truck

Eli received this monster truck for his first Christmas from his uncle Isaac and aunt Jen. He loves it. It has been glued and taped back together several times. He sleeps with it. Today he was talking with grandma Gibb on skype and he was showing her his truck. He explained "Some people have cows and some people have ducks and some people have monster trucks." Also, he's trying to convince grandpa Gibb to buy a monster truck. At least this boy knows what he likes!

Testing testing

Eli had a hard time waking up from his, extremely rare, Sunday afternoon nap. Love me some cuddles!
